About this event

The future of work is as much unknown as it is known, but is this a new idea? We tend to think of our existence as unique within this specific moment of time, but industry has always evolved with technological advancement. Jobs which seemed crucial to human existence have been consistently rethought, reshaped, and sometimes removed from society. With the exponential acceleration of invention, we are forced to constantly live on the brink of new developments that impact how, where, and why we work.

Just recently, offices and co-working spaces had their rise and fall as king. Due to the pandemic, many of us have learned to plug into virtual realities and work from home and across time zones. We can learn important new skills via hands-on, easy-to-use, augmented reality guidance. Our world is no longer defined by our location in it; we now have the access to connect and collaborate with one another with a simple click, swipe, or push. For those that have this luxury - or constraint - we are at the cusp of the next evolution of working. We will challenge brick and mortar and come out in 0s and 1s.

On February 2nd industry experts will unpack and challenge what we have known to be how work, works, and discuss The Next Evolution: The Future of Work.

What's The Format:

We will be using Virbela's Open Campus to host the program. We suggest that you download, set-up, get familiar with the Virbela program ( and environment prior to the program, as we will be unable to provide support during the event. The event will also streamed on (

The virtual environment resembles a physical space, so you will be able to talk with other attendees during open networking both before and after the presentations. The sound is spatialized, so if at any point it feels too loud, feel free to move your conversation to another part of the room where there are less people.

We begin with informal networking and then start the stage portion promptly at 6:15pm CDT. There will be a handful of presentations before we move on to answer audience questions and then finish with more networking. We keep it simple and informal - this MeetUp is about you, our members, and not the host or presenters. Come and get your questions answered, take your next step into immersive technology.

6:00-6:15pm - Networking & Preparation

6:15-6:30pm - Introductions & Welcome

6:30-7:30pm - Panel Discussion and Q&A

VR/AR Chicago brings together people who are interested in working with virtual and augmented reality technology. The group includes developers, business leaders, investors, students, and more. Many of our members are actively working with VR and AR technology here in Chicago - providing consulting, business development, and technology development services. What makes us different from other groups is that we are not just interested in seeing what's out there, we are actively producing, promoting, and demonstrating VR and AR technology in our businesses and community.
