The New School’s Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility will facilitate a discussion with experts from various perspectives on how to increase the impact of The New School’s commitment to divest from fossil fuels, and the various approaches that exist for handling carbon emissions in university endowments.

The expert panel will include: Paul-Alexander Crystal (Director of Treasury at National Resource Defense Council), Chris Fowle (Vice President of Investor Initiatives at CDP), Marcie Smith (Executive Director at Responsible Endowments Coalition), and more.

New School students encouraged to join for: networking opportunities, educational materials, activism strategizing, and free food!

Educational materials will be provided to help create growing awareness of the issues and nuances of this essential discussion. After the discussion, there will be a chance for audience members to ask questions and discuss issues relevant to them.

This event is sponsored by the Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility, the Tishman Environment and Design Center, and the Responsible Endowments CoalitionNational Resource Defense Council, and CDP.

ACIR (The Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility) at The New School

The Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility (ACIR) is an organization built for addressing social, environmental, and corporate governance issues in the management of The New School's investments. Composed of students, faculty, staff, and trustees, the issues which the ACIR considers includes but are not limited to: human rights, labor standards, environmental sustainability, equity, diversity, discrimination, and corporate governance and disclosure. Authorized by the university Board of Trustees, the ACIR presents recommendations on these issues directly to their Investment Committee.
