The New Modern Teacher: Technology Tools that Transform Education
Tue, May 2, 2017, 3:15 PM – 5:00 PM PDT
We live in a world that incorporates more and more technology into our schools, homes and teaching environments. Teachers are now thrust into a new role; no longer the "sage on the stage" but the "guide on the side". More and more schools are using Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies into the classrooms, allowing students to utilize the tools that they use throughout their lives. This workshop will focus on the new modern teacher and motivating tools that are being used throughout classrooms in order to bridge the gap between our educational system and our technology-infused world. Learn the new ways to access text and multi-media, take notes and record information, and connect learning to the world in which we live and interact. See the tools that are available that allow our teachers to "leave behind" elements that our students can use to review, annotate, and study information. Learn the power of social media and it's relevance in the classroom as a teaching tool. Participants will walk away with a glimpse into the future and how we can best integrate tech tools that our students will use for a lifetime!
TRC is excited about our grand reopening of the tech center set for early May. We will be highlighting educational technology tools such as virtual reality, robotics, 3D systems and printers, STEM technology, eye gaze and many other exciting new tools. This workshop will not only highlight these tools but will also outline how TRC will be integrating them into after-school trainings, "Demo Days" and Maker Spaces.
