Our panelists include:

Dawn Paley: Dawn Marie Paley is a journalist and sociologist. Her first book, Drug War Capitalism, interrogates the role of US backed anti-drugs policies in Mexico and Central America. She has a PhD in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Puebla, and is currently writing a new book about Mexico.

Velia Marrujo de Luna: Administrator for the Comite Fronterizo de Obrer@s (CFO) and facilitator of their Health and Empowerement workshops.

Montserrat Garibay: Secretary/Treasurer for the Texas AFL-CIO. She focuses on public education, workers' rights and immigration.

Gus Bova: Reports on immigration, the U.S.-Mexico border and grassroots movements for the Texas Observer. He formerly worked at Casa Marianella, a local shelter for asylum-seekers and refugees.

Sulma Franco: Sanctuary and Immigration Organizer for Grassroots Leadership. An immigrant from Guatemala, she also works for GL's Detention Center Program.

Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera is a non-profit organization that raises awareness about conditions of social and economic injustice along the Texas/Mexico border particularly as they affect displaced and disenfranchised communities and supports community-driven resistance to injustice through transnational solidarity and fair trade.
