The New Arts of Documentary

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

We would be honored if you joined us at The New Arts of Documentary, a daylong summit hosted by MIT Comparative Media Studies on March 20th, 2012. This event will be devoted to emerging storytelling technologies and the future of documentary film. Our intent is to launch an ongoing conversation among filmmakers, scholars, curators, and funders about the future of documentary media.
Lunch will be provided.

Topics will include:
The Changing Documentary Landscape
New forms and processes explored in the broader context of historical and international documentary innovation.

Social And Cultural Implications
Changing relationships between maker, subject, and audience and the potential for social change.

Situating New Forms in Our Cultural Space
Funding, exhibition, and distribution.

We also hope you can stay for an MIT Communications Forum at 5pm, "Documentary Film and New Technologies".

William Uricchio, Director and Professor of Comparative Media Studies
Sarah Wolozin, Program Manager, MIT Comparative Media Studies
