A night of music and photos exploring the collaboration of Benny Carter and Ed Berger

About this Event

Loren Schoenberg, Senior Scholar of the museum, hosts an evening of rare film clips of Benny Carter, selections from his albums produced by Ed Berger, Ed’s photographs, and a panel discussion with Hilma (Mrs. Benny) Carter, Dan Morgenstern, former director of the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies, Vincent Pelote, Senior Archivist Digital Preservation Strategist at the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University-Newark, and members of the Berger Family.

The evening will conclude with a set of Benny Carter’s music played by the Sarah Hanahan Quartet featuring Sean Mason, Philip Norris, and TJ Reddick.
