Event description
The rarely seen comedy classic comes to the Music Box Cinema!

About this Event

Don’t miss this rare chance to see Mabel Normand in her own production that became the highest grossing film of 1918, with live musical accompaniment by Cliff Retallick! Mabel plays Mickey, a miner's daughter who is sent East to live a privileged life, but when her aunt learns the mine is failing, Mickey is forced to become a servant.

We will be joined by author Timothy Dean Leffler, who will introduce the film and sign copies of his book, Mabel Normand: the Life and Career of a Hollywood Madcap. This book highlights Normand’s substantial, yet long overlooked contributions to film history and popular culture, tracing her life from humble beginnings on Staten Island to the heights of world superstardom.

American silent film star Mabel Normand (1892-1930) starred in over 200 films before dying of tuberculosis at age 37. Her brief but remarkable career included writer and director credits as well as heading her production company at her own studio.

Wine and snacks will be available (for cash only).
