Event description
Bring your media projects to the next level by mastering the art of integrating music.

About this Event

This seminar is designed for filmmakers to take a deep-dive into the ins and outs of using music in media (films, documentaries, web videos, commercials, etc.).

Many filmmakers find this critical piece of the media puzzle mystifying and daunting. Our goal is to simplify it and give content creators a deeper understanding of the practicalities and artistic considerations around music choices, and enable them to make their projects more impactful and successful.

Learn from top industry heavyweights (e.g, composers, music supervisors, music editors) and through direct experience with media clips from successful projects.

Who should attend? Directors, producers, editors, and anyone seeking info about placing music in their project.

Last year’s transformative event, held at the historic Warner Brothers’ scoring stage, included high-caliber info from panelists such as Mark Isham (composer, A River Runs Through It, Crash, Once Upon a Time), recording engineer Gus Borner (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, Birdman) and Sarah Kovaks (agent, Kraft-Engel Management).

We will have an equally impressive line-up of composers, music supervisors and music editors this year that will include:

  • John Debney (composer: The Greatest Showman, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book, The Passion of the Christ)
  • Christopher Lennertz (composer: Lost in Space, Shaft, Supernatural, Horrible Bosses)
  • Julianne Jordan (music supervisor: A Star Is Born, Pitch Perfect, Trolls)
  • Nathan Barr (composer: True Blood, The Americans, Carnival Row, The House With a Clock In Its Walls)
  • Angie Rubin (music editor: Fifty Shades of Grey, Pitch Perfect, Meet Joe Black, Se7en)
  • Fil Eisler (composer: Empire, UnREAL, Life of the Party, Shameless)
  • Germaine Franco (composer: Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Someone Great, Little)
  • Ryan Shore (composer: Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, Star Wars Forces of Destiny, Buckout Road, Alex and the List)

This full day seminar will include a lunch break. Lunch may be purchased as a part of the ticket (vegetarian options will be available), or you will have time to grab lunch nearby on your own.

About the Venue: Newman Scoring Stage

The Newman Scoring Stage, located on the Fox Studio Lot in Los Angeles, is one of the oldest and largest recording studios in the world. Named after renowned film composer Alfred Newman, numerous films and television programs have recorded their scores here, including Jaws, The Sound of Music, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar, The Simpsons, the Matrix trilogy, Wall-E, and The Bourne Identity. Marilyn Monroe, Julie Andrews, Shirley Jones and Elvis Presley have also recorded at this stage.

We think this is the ideal venue for an event discussing the power of music in film and television.
