The Museum of Interesting Things, an interactive exhibition of antiques & inventions, is hosting a virtual dive into the history of sound
About this event
This hour-long special features two shows for the price of one, specially curated for Multicultural Arts Exchange’s Marathon of Culture "When The Muses Speak, the Wolrd Listens"
In "Soothe the Savage Beast", you will explore how the inventors brought the sounds of music to life.
Interactive demonstrations will include Edison Cylinder Phonograph, Victrola, wire recorder, 8 track, Sony Walkman, reel to reel, calliope players, barrel organ grinders and many, many more other unique gadgets that pave the way for Spotify.
"Can You Hear Me Now?" will trace the evolution of communication devices including telegraphs, box wooden telephones, teletypes, wire recorders, spy tech from WW2 (yes a Cipher!), pigeon parachutes, cell phones and computers.
The history of technology never looked so cool!
The Museum of Interesting Things inspires creativity and innovation in adults and children by providing a hands-on introduction to antique inventions that have shaped modern society.
