Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore, MD
The Movement's sixth studio album, GOLDEN, was released April 8, 2016, on Rootfire Cooperative. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. The album has been added to regular rotation on SiriusXM’s “The Joint” and is receiving commercial radio play in cities across the United States.
Formed in 2004 by a trio of Sublime and Pixies fans, Joshua Swain, Jordan Miller, and John Ruff, aka DJ Riggles, launched The Movement with their "alternative reggae" debut album, ON YOUR FEET. In 2008, the group met Chris DiBeneditto, a Philadelphia-based producer who had worked with like-minded acts such as Slightly Stoopid and G. Love & Special Sauce. Relocating to Philadelphia, they recorded SET SAIL at DiBeneditto’s Philadelphonic Studios. The Movement expanded with the addition of Jason "Smiles" Schmidt on bass and Gary Jackson on drums. In 2012, Miller left the group, and the trio, now fronted by Swain, released their fourth album SIDE BY SIDE, debuting at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. In 2014 The Movement released BENEATH THE PALMS, a surprise acoustic album as a free gift to their fans. Shortly thereafter they began working on what would become their finest album to date, GOLDEN. Keyboardist Ross Bogan joined the group full time in Spring 2016.
The Holdup is a San Jose quartet with a unique sound that incorporates elements of Hip-Hop, Indie, Reggae and Pop. The group formed in early 2008 when drummer Danny Flores and vocalist Mike Garmany recruited bassist Kyle Christensen and DJ/Manager Clev Stiles. After only just a few months of playing local gigs the group cultivated a solid fan base and began selling out local venues. As the group's popularity grew the demand for an album was apparent. In late 2008 The Holdup hit the studio and began recording their first full length album Stay Gold.
Since releasing their debut album on Fort Knox Recordings in 2011, NAPPY RIDDEM has been busy touring nationwide and releasing a string of remixes, transforming itself into an uplifting and conscious reggae band that is funky enough to pack the dancefloor. Started by Mustafa Akbar and Rex Riddem, NAPPY RIDDEM is now joined in the studio and on stage by drummer Jon Modell as part of their 6-piece live band.
