On Saturday, January 7th at 7pm at Church Street School for Music & Art, Church Street School for Music and Art presents The Most Expensive Noise, featuring new chamber operas by Gene Pritsker, Milica Paranosic, and Alon Nechushtan.
Gene Pritsker’s The Meeting, with a story and libretto by Roger Aplon, looks into the lives of two old friends reuniting in a café. As they discuss their past together, a ghostly presence reminds them of the ups and downs of their friendship.
A Little Ribbon 🎀 Helps Tie Things Together is a short comic opera by Milica Paranosic and Mia Chung about love, weddings, and infidelity.
Alon Nechushtan’s Dear Midnight of Love looks with humor at hapless realities of the Covid-19 era, as Joey, an aging Chicago gangster, is sucked into the world of online dating.
Additionally, the event will feature intermezzi by composer Dan Cooper. Performers will include Adriana Valdés - soprano, Kevin Courtemanche - tenor, Charles Coleman - baritone, Peter Hess - clarinet, Molly Aronson - cello, and Jai Jeffryes - piano.
