The UNHCR reports that wars, conflict and persecution have forced more people than at any time in history to flee their homes and seek refuge and safety elsewhere. The tragic boat sinkings in the Mediterranean and the Syrian refugee crisis has sparked a public awareness of this pressing issue, and a desire to respond.
This is why The Mosaic Institute would like to invite you to attend the 2016 Citizen Summit, a day-long conference that will feature speakers, exhibits, workshops, and other opportunities for you to explore in depth the global issue of refugees in the 21st Century.
The Summit will feature a keynote speech in the morning as well as a speaker panel in the afternoon.
In between those panels, you will also be able to attend interactive workshop sessions that will focus on one particular aspect of the issue. You will be informed by e-mail once the registration for workshop sessions has started (no additional fee).
Full program available here:
Keynote speaker: Irwin Cotler (Founder and Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, Emeritus Professor of Law at McGill University, former Member of Parliament, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, international human rights lawyer)
Dr. Anna Banerji (Director of Global and Indigenous Health at Continuing Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto)
Rivka Augenfeld (Former president of the Table de Concertation des Organisme au Service des Personnes Réfugiées et Immigrantes)
