Experience the awe of Emmy Award, Chicago Film Critics Award, Independent Spirit Award, and NAACP Award winning actress, Debbi Morgan, as she performs the role of 22 different characters, in her critically acclaimed, autobiographical, one-woman stage performance of:


With over 50 film and television credits to her name, Ms. Morgan now brings to Atlanta a commanding theatrical performance where, through the art of theater, she shares many fascinating aspects of her book,The Monkey on My Back: a Memoir. In writing this memoir, she set out to break a generational curse that spanned three generations of women. Watch, as you glimpse into her family history as well as her own life story from childhood to the present. Listen, as you hear about her troubled and anguished past. Learn, how she escaped a vicious cycle of abuse to find self-confidence, happiness, success, and fame.

In this compelling one-woman play, The Monkey on My Back!, Ms. Morgan reveals through her magnificent portrayal of 11 men and 11 women, the lifetime of fear, doubt, and insecurity that she struggled with—and from which she ultimately and brilliantly triumphed over.

About 7 Stages Theatre

Started in 1979, this comfortably cozy theater is the perfect venue for an intimate stage performance. With a seating capacity of 200, every seat in the house is close, every view is a clear one, and each audience member has a bird's-eye view of every aspect of every performance.


Where is the Seating Chart?

Tickets are issued by the organizer at the time of purchase, and are picked up at the theater on the day of the performance. Seating is reserved and seat numbers are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis, within your ticket category. The earlier you purchase your ticket, the closer/better the seat assignment; however the theater is small, so no matter where you sit you will be close.

When you arrive at the theater, on your ticket date, please go to the Will Call Desk, provide your name, and your ticket(s) will be given to you. Tickets can NOT be picked up prior to your ticket purchase performance date.

Is there wheelchair access, and is there seating available for individuals who are handicapped?


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Drivers license, state issued ID, or birth certificate required. 18 years or older, only.

What are my public transportation options for getting to and from the play?

  • MARTA to Inman Park Marta/Reynoldstown Station

What are my parking options for the play?

  • Paid lot behind the theatre: Parking is located in a secure, well-lit, privately run lot behind 7 Stages. The entrance to the lot is located between Ardens Garden Juice Shop and Outback Bicycles. Park-It charges a flat fee of $2 – $7 for a full day of parking, depending on the day. Depending on what time you arrive there will either be an attendant or you can pay at the pay station.
  • Paid street parking: Along Euclid Ave throughout Little Five Points there is paid street parking. You need to pay at the corresponding pay station for these spots.
  • Free street parking: Further down Euclid Ave, past Horizon Theatre as you go into Inman Park, there is free street parking. It is a short walk to the theatre. Around this area many of the side streets also offer free street parking.
  • Pay in Advance Reserved Parking: Pay ahead and have a parking spot in the theater's back lot waiting for you upon arrival! For more details go to: https://www.parkwhiz.com/7-stages-theatre-parking/!

Can I bring food and beverages into the venue?

No. Outside food or beverages can NOT be brought into the theater.

Can I film or take photos?

No. Filming and photography are strictly and absolutely PROHIBITED. If you are caught recording audio or visual, or taking pictures with any device, you will be removed from the theater and all video/photographs will be confiscated.

What's the refund policy?

There are no refunds.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. Your ticket(s) will be at the Will Call desk, under the name of the individual who purchased it/them.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

You may give transfer any tickets purchase to any party of your choosing.

Is it OK if the name on the ticket/registration does not match the attendee?

Yes. Simply notify us, in advance, that someone other than the person who purchased the ticket(s) will pick it/them up at Will Call.
