Event description

Description

Join Leemon McHenry as he speaks about corruption in the pharmaceutical industry during his lecture- "The Miscommunication of Medicine: Industry-Sponsored Ghostwriting and the Crisis of Credibility".

Government investigations and plaintiff's lawsuits have brought to light the misreporting of clinical trial results facilitated by pharmaceutical industry ghostwriting. Using documents released in litigation, this lecture exposes the role of medical communication firms and pharmaceutical marketing in the construction of the medical literature, conference presentations and continuing medical education. Prescribing physicians and researchers are confronted with a crisis of credibility in the attempt to find reliable medical information in a post-truth world dominated by message-driven public relations, competing narratives, distortion and deliberate deception.
