Produced by Florida’s own groundbreaking integrated dance pioneers, Karen Peterson and Dancers (KPD), the second edition of Forward Motion Physically Integrated Dance Festival and Conference promises to be even more exciting than our inaugural event! See HERE for our full program line-up.

On Thursday, September 26th from 7:30 pm - 9:15 pm join Karen Peterson and Dancers and Step Change Studios as they come together for a special Miami/London Dance Exchange performance as part of Miami-Dade County's International Cultural Partnerships Program. The performance will be followed by a Q&A and meet and greet with the artists.

Features the Following Dance Artists:

Rashmi Becker - Founding Director, Step Change Studios, born in England, Rashmi started out as a competitive ice skater and began dancing to help her skating. As the younger sister of a brother with Autism she became aware of the benefits of dance from an early age as it was a way for them to connect. As an adult, Rashmi became involved in disability advocacy, and in 2017 she established Step Change Studios to address the lack of integrated dance opportunities in the UK. The following year Step Change Studios received an Award for Innovation from the national dance body One Dance UK. In 2019 she was recognized by the UK Prime Minister with a Points of Light Award for her contribution to making dance accessible.

Dwayne Scheunemann, REVolutions Dance, Director and Guest Artist KPD - Dwayne began his dance career in 2002. While a member of Asher Dance Eclectic, he began performing and taking classes in Tampa, Florida. Later, Dwayne began taking workshops and attending dance festivals with internationally recognized physically integrated dance companies such as AXIS Dance Company, CANDOCO and Karen Peterson and Dancers. In August of 2005, Dwayne founded REVolutions dance in Tampa Florida. As director of REVolutions Dance he has collaborated with choreographers Leymis Balanos Wilmot, Cindy Hennessy, Karen Peterson. Under Dwayne's direction, REVolutions Dance has presented and taught internationally in China, Russia, Italy and Israel. Most recently Dwayne has completed a four-year contract with AXIS Dance Company in Oakland California. Dwayne has been recognized with numerous awards for his achievements in dance such as the Homer Avila award in Miami Florida, Tampa Bay Community Hero award and Honorable Achievement award presented by the United States Veterans Creative Arts Commission.

Katherine Brennan (dancer, Karen Peterson and Dancers) Katherine began dancing at the age of eight in Kansas City where she later performed with 940 Dance Company, City in Motion, and Gurukul Indian Dance Company. She spent a season as an associate artist with Core Project Chicago before moving to NYC where she completed dance therapy post-graduate work and performed with Kinesis Project Dance Theater. In Miami, Katherine has performed with NWD projects, Momentum, and KPD with whom she has created original roles in “Warmamas” and “Untold Stories”. This summer, she collaborated with Minneapolis-based choreographer Non Edwards in the Right Here Showcase and also performed with the Step Change Studios as part of the Miami / London International Cultural Exchange project in London for the National Theatre Summer Stage performances.

Lauren Russell (dancer, Step Change Studios). Lauren started dancing at the age of 8. As her health declined, she had to stop dancing for a few years. In 2016, she rediscovered dance through Sidekick in Leicester, England and found dancing to be liberating. Since then, she has participated in workshops with a range of companies and attends weekly classes with professional artists through We Are Epic. Lauren made her professional debut in Fairy Tales in London in

Romano Solano (dancer, Step Change Studios). Romano started learning Jazz, Modern and Contemporary dance at the age of 6 in Switzerland and went on to train at Li-Danceunit. He was a finalist on the TV show Switzerland’s Got Talent, and a semi-finalist on Got To Dance Germany. He also taught contemporary dance in schools in Switzerland. Most recently he has trained in New York developing in Hip-Hop, Jazz and Funk styles and is now
