Workshop: Monday, Feb. 20 | 1-4pm (NO SCHOOL)
Price: Regular $35 | Member $29.75 | Scholarship $24.50
All materials provided. A minimum of 6 participants are required to hold this workshop.
This workshop is all about embracing the process, so don't worry about being "good" at it! Throughout the workshop participants will be given prompts on how to paint, such as "speedy," "slow and intentional," "with your eyes closed," "with a big brush," or "with your fingers." This will allow youth to have some control over the outcome of their painting, but also give them more opportunities to explore their own expressions and see how it changes the energy of the painting and the experience.
About the Teaching Artist:
Lara Cornell is a Minneapolis-based artist. Her style is Soulful Expressionism; painting bright colors, mixing medias, using original photography, lettering words of love and encouragement, and often focused on her love of nature. Lara has been part of the courageous heARTS community since volunteering for our very first event in June of 2013. In addition to her role as a teaching artist, she currently serves as an apprentice during our open studio hours on Tuesdays.
Fees support local artists and courageous heARTS' mission to co-create experiences with young people by offering them a safe space, built with the intention to heal and empower through expressive arts, community building, and leadership development.
