Event description

Description

In what ways are Louis Kahn’s ideas relevant to architecture today? Bringing a contemporary perspective to the 20th-century architect’s impact, Stephen Kieran will discuss recent cutting-edge projects initiated by KieranTimberlake, the award-winning Philadelphia architecture firm he co- founded in 1984.

Kieran will consider how Kahn’s continued influence on current contemporary art and architectural practices inform his firm’s approach to projects such as: SmartWrap™, an innovative, award-winning building material developed with DuPont; the MoMA-commissioned Cellophane House™; and their transformation of Philadelphia’s Dilworth Park at City Hall in 2014.

This program is presented in conjunction with Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture.
