Doors Open Baltimore Kick-Off Lecture Presented by the Baltimore Architecture Foundation and Baltimore Heritage

Kate Wagner (AKA McMansion Hell) will be presenting a patented quick and dirty tutorial on how to look at buildings like an architecture critic, complete with examples of famous Baltimore architecture. Love old buildings but unsure about how to pick them apart or know how they tick? Want to know how a Baltimore rowhouse ticks? What do you say to a building that can't be easily classed according to architectural style? Find out the answers to these questions and more!

About the presenter:

Kate Wagner is the creator of the viral blog McMansion Hell, which roasts the world’s ugliest houses from top to bottom, all while teaching about architecture and design. Since its launch in July 2016, the blog has been featured in a wide range of publications, including the Huffington Post, Slate, Business Insider and Paper Magazine.

Outside of McMansion Hell, Kate has written for Curbed, 99 Percent Invisible, The Atlantic, Architectural Digest and more. She recently graduated from Johns Hopkins with a Masters of Arts in Audio Science, specializing in architectural acoustics. Her thesis project examined intersections of acoustics, urbanism and Late Modern architecture.

Special Restaurant Deal:

Stop by the B&O American Brasserie (2 N. CHARLES STREET) the evening of the lecture for 10% off select food and drinks!
