Four Developmental Tasks of the Masculine

About this Event

Morning Session: Drawing on his three decades of work with men as well as some of the most important Jungian and Neo-Jungian theorists such as Robert Johnson, Edward Edinger, Robert Moore and scholars such as Mircea Eliade, Joseph Campbell and Stanislav Grof, James will lead us in an exploration of the deeper archetypal structures that underlie, structure and fuel the mature expression of the masculine. We will explore the themes of initiation, individuation and integration in the service of truly powerful transformation. James will discuss Jungian and Neo-Jungian maps of the soul that will help lift up a vision of the possible mature masculine. We will also explore how to locate and regulate the main archetypes that provide the psychic energy and patterns of behavior that can help build a cohesive self for regeneration, renewal, blessing and reflection necessary to build a cosmos both in the inner world as well as the outer world.

Afternoon Session: In the afternoon we will continue our exploration using images, art, movies and experiential learning. We will have an opportunity to do a process James calls Archetypal Improv that is designed to ground the intellectual maps in our bodies and actions thus rendering archetypal awareness into something deeply practical for changing our sense of self/Self while moving toward a better balancing of our potentials. Although we will be focusing on the mature masculine, this workshop is for both women and men. Since, according to Jung, every woman has a masculine component to her psyche and every woman has many men in her life, women will find this material equally relevant to their inner work and relationships.

James Frazier has been leading Holotropic Breathwork workshops and personal growth seminars throughout the United States, and in Canada and Europe since 1986. He has a background in counseling and psychotherapy and over 30 years of experience in personal growth and development consulting. He combines the best of Shamanic wisdom, especially the use of non-ordinary states of consciousness, with the incredible insights and discoveries about the human psyche as expressed in the work of C.G. Jung.
