Event description

Description

Genesius Guild, Opera@Augustana, Opera Quad Cities, and the St. Ambrose University Music Department have combined resources to present Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” in Allaert Auditorium at St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center.

The new and unique slate of collaborators represents broad leadership in music performance in the bi-state community. They have joined forces to continue the long tradition of summer opera in the Quad Cities, now in an indoor setting.

Dr. Nathan Windt, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities for St. Ambrose University, will conduct, while Dr. Michelle Crouch, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Augustana College, will provide stage direction. Opera Quad Cities will serve as the overall production producer.

Previously, summer opera productions sponsored by Genesius Guild and Opera@Augustana were held in Rock Island’s Lincoln Park. The move to a climate-controlled environment will now provide productions with greater acoustics, lighting, and improved parking for the public. This new collaboration will focus upon the tradition of local singers, orchestra members, and technical theatre personnel.
