Event Details

A variety of medical conditions cause dementia, and certain types may be reversible.  This course will examine the most common conditions affecting cognitive function - Alzheimer's Disease, vascular dementia and multi-infarct dementia - as well as diseases such as Pick's, Creutzfeld-Jakob, Huntington's, and Parkinson's.  Participants will learn how to recognize the symptoms of dementia, evaluate for the disorder, and identify causes of various dementia processes.  Treatment options and caregiver support services and programs will be discussed.

This workshop has been approved for two (2) hours of continuing educatsion credits for Case Managers (CCMs) through the Commission for Case Manager Certification. (Nurse's can submit certificate of completion to NYSED Board of Nursing for continuing education consideration),  Certificates will be distributed at the end of the program.

5:00  pm  REGISTRATION AND DINNER:  Registration and a light supper

5:30 pm  - 7:30 pm   WORKSHOP PROGRAM

PRESENTER:  Anne B. Pagano, LCSW, ACSW, BCD, C-ASWCM, is the Executive Director of the Hoarding Disorder Resource and Training Group and has more than 30 years experience in direct clinical and care management services, supervision, and administration in hospitals and long- term care facilities.  She holds a Master's in Social Work from Simmons College of Social Work in Boston and a Post - Master's Certificate in Gerontology from the Hunter-Brookdale Center on Aging in New York City.
