The Sarasota & Manatee Community Remembrance Project in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative is proud to celebrate our local high school students who participated in the EJI Racial Justice Essay Contest.
The Sarasota & Manatee Community Remembrance Project (known for short as “Manasota Remembers”) was conceived in collaboration with the Equal Justice Initiative with the hope of creating an educational, meaningful site where the history of racial violence can be learned, as well as to memorialize and honor the victims of racial violence.
Our special guest speaker is Jennifer Harris, a Senior Project Manager with the Equal Justice Initiative. Ms. Harris has a B.A. in graphic design from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master’s in criminal justice from Troy State University. After earning her J.D. from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, she clerked for Alabama’s 15th Judicial Circuit Court in Montgomery. She has years of legal and private sector experience in consulting and project management, and worked as an underwriter and compliance specialist in the banking industry for many years before joining EJI in 2022.
Join us along with family, friends, educators and community leaders for a special awards presentation and announcement of the contest winners.
