The Maine Gun Safety Coalition's 20th Annual Buzz Fitzgerald Award Dinner
Event Information
Description
Please join us on November 14 for the Maine Gun Safety Coalition’s 20th Annual Buzz Fitzgerald Award Dinner.
Every year we select Mainers who have been a force for gun safety, and recognize them for their hard work, courage, and moral vision. This year, we are privileged to honor Senator Rebecca Millett, who sponsored L.D. 1312, Maine's proposed Red Flag Law in the 129th Legislative Session. Her tireless work on the bill, and leadership on gun safety issues in Augusta led directly to the enactment of the "Yellow Paper Law," which provides a mechanism for police to remove firearms from those who pose a danger to themselves or others.
We will also honor Falmouth Town Council Chair Amy Kuhn, Maine Gun Safety Coalition board member Ed Googins, who recently announced his pending retirement as Chief of the South Portland Police Department, and the legislative leaders of the 129th Legislative Session who sponsored gun safety bills.
Our keynote speaker will be John Rosenthal, co-founder of Stop Handgun Violence, and longtime gun violence prevention advocate.
Ticket sales go directly to supporting the Coalition in its continued work advocating for gun safety measures in Augusta, and around the state, distributing free trigger locks for any gun owner in need, and being a leading voice for keeping Mainers safe.
Please note that the price of the ticket is not tax-deductiable as they support our advocacy efforts. You may make a tax-deductible gift by addressing your check to the MGSC Foundation. Please send any questions to Geoff Bickford, Executive Director, at geoff@mainegunsafety.org
