The Maine Dead Project will recreate the show that the Grateful Dead performed in Augusta in 1984.
In late spring of 2015, this group of seasoned musicians came together to play a weekly residency in Portland, Maine. Word caught on fast that these guys were ambitious players who were not afraid to take the material to new places. The Maine Dead Project brings their own fresh perspective to the Grateful Dead's music, while retaining the core spirit and ethos of a live 'Dead show.
Among them, these seasoned players have played and shared stages with John Popper (Blues Traveler), Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead), Mean Willie Green (Neville Brothers) Jeff Watkins (James Brown Band), The New Orleans Suspects, members of Strangefolk, members of the Trey Anastasio Band and more.
MDP has focused on playing an increasingly large repertoire of 'Dead classics from every time period — there are always a few fresh surprises in the set list. The band specializes in covering classic shows in their entirety.
