To celebrate Diane Wolkstein's release of The Magic Orange Tree and Other Haitian Folktales, we will be throwing a CD release party and you are invited to join us!
In addition to Diane telling stories from The Magic Orange Tree, we will be joined by Joy Kelly, Shirley Keller, Haitian drummer Oneza Lafontant, Haitian dancers, and more. The walls will be decorated with Elsa Henriquez’s original illustrations for the classic, ALA Notable book The Magic Orange Tree and Other Haitian Folktales.

Diane Wolkstein is the award-winning author of 23 books, including The Magic Orange Tree and Other Haitian Folktales andInanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth. From amusing children’s tales to epic adventures for adults, Wolkstein has performed and collected stories on five continents. In 2007, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg named June 22nd of that year “Diane Wolkstein Day,” in honor of Wolkstein’s 40 years of service to New York City. For 13 years the host of her own radio show at WNYC, Wolkstein has also been a frequent guest on PBS, NPR, and the BBC. She is a sought-after performer at festivals, schools, and universities around the world, and conducts popular workshops on storytelling. Wolkstein taught at New York University for 18 years, and established New York’s longstanding Central Park storytelling program. She is a resident of Greenwich Village and the epicycle editor of Parabola Magazine.
