Description

The Magic of Christmas is the 2018 Benjamin House Christmas Benefit.

Support Elizabeth City's very own Benjamin House and celebrate the holiday season with a fabulous cast of performers gathered together by Broadway's Eric Michael Gillett to sing songs of the season, of hope, faith and gratitude. "The Magic of Christmas" will once again provide the warmth, community and a generous portion of hilarity audiences have come to expect from this annual holiday event. This is one you will not want to miss!

Starring New York City vocalists and mucisians Eric Michael Gillett, Kim Rachelle Harris, Arthur L. Ross, Billy Shaw, Lauren Standford, Melanie Vaughn, Robin Westle, with Musical Director Will Shuler.

OPEN SEATING - No reserved seats. Museum of the Albemarle Auditorium.

Tickets - $25.00. All proceeds go directly to The Benjamin House.

ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT
Eric Michael Gillett is a 6-time MAC Award-winning director and performer. His film and television appearances include “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Quantico’ “Kevin Can Wait,” "The Blacklist,” “Daredevil," "The Mysteries of Laura,” "The Producers,” "Maid in Manhattan,” "Good God,” "Out of Order,” "The Third Testament," "My Brother," "Law & Order" (SVU & Mothership), and “Ed." Broadway credits include original casts of Sweet Smell of Success, The Frogs, and Kiss Me, Kate (revival). Other major NYC credits include principal soloist turns with New York City Opera in Cinderella and Candide, as well as New York City Ballet’s Seven Deadly Sins. Most recently, he performed in the world theatrical premiere of Cast of Thousands: The Songs of Craig Carnelia, at the Wyoming Theater Festival and as ‘Archie Windows’ in the world premiere of the new play, Go Get the Axe. Eric Michael is proud to return to Elizabeth City and to Benjamin House, in support of all his friends who are residents there. KIM RACHELLE HARRIS
Kim Rachelle Harris was recently seen in Honky Tonk Laundry at Shadowland Stages and the Chenango River Theatre in upstate New York. Prior to that she played Rosemary Clooney" in four regional productions ofTenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical. Off Broadway: Room Service (Christine Marlowe). Favorite regional credits include 42nd Street (Dorothy Brock), Oliver! (Nancy), and Annie Get Your Gun (Annie Oakley). A graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, Kim has been a featured performer at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida as "Ariel" in The Voyage of The Little Mermaid and "Dolly Drew" in the Hoop Dee Doo Review , as well as a featured singer at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.

WILL SHULER
Will Shuler is so glad to be back in the Carolinas for the holidays! A native of York, South Carolina, Will has called New York City home since 2011. Most recently, he served as Music Director/Conductor for The Rocky Horror Show, 42nd Street and Guys and Dolls at the historic Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA and as the MD/Conductor for the 2nd National Tour of Pippin. Thanks and much love to my family (who are spread out “all over hell and half of Georgia” as my South Carolina-born-and-raised Papa used to say) for their overwhelming support, to Eric Michael for continuing to have me and, as always, to Ann, Lenny and Benjamin for their undying love and hospitality.

BILLY SHAW
Billy Shaw is very grateful to be singing for a cause like Benjamin House and thanks EMG for the opportunity. He is currently performing on stage at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, NYC. Productions include AIDA, LaBoheme, Il Trittico and Mefistofele. Billy has performed in some of the great concert halls and cathedrals of Europe with the Sound Of America Honor Choir and traveled to all 7 continents as a lead production singer for Holland America Cruise Line. Theatre credits include the US National tour of Camelot, Barrington Stage Company and the Depot Theatre. Merry Christmas Everyone!

LAUREN STANDFORD
Lauren Stanford is thrilled to be back celebrating the beautiful Benjamin House! Originally from Stilwell, KS, she was the 2016 recipient of The Julie Wilson Award at the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center. She received a 2017 Bistro Award for Musical Portrayal and was named one of the top 25 people to watch in cabaret in 2015. She also won the 2013 MetroStar Competition. She is a proud member of Actors Equity and has appeared in plays and musicals in NYC, regionally, and on national tours. www.laurenstanford.com

ROBIN WESTLE
Robin Westle is an actor/singer who can be seen in the role of “great Aunt Miriam” in THE SHIVA CALLERS, a recently released short film which was featured this past summer in Durham, North Carolina at the annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, as “Sylvia Lane” in the soon to be released short film THE APPRENTICE, and as “Donna” in the soon to be completed web series, STRINGS ATTACHED. Robin can also be seen in the recently released and widely distributed ALEMBIKA YOUR LIFE dance ad; a celebration of the “mature” woman modeling clothes by the internationally known Israeli designer,” Hagar Alembik”. Robin is the creator, producer, and host of the popular and critically acclaimed ROBIN’S NEST, a benefit series to support helpusadopt.org. Her solo cabaret shows, WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME?, NO REGRETS, and THE ADVENTURES OF TAFFY LONGVUE, a show about finding your own fabulousness, were critically praised and audience favorties . Robin performed the role of ‘Sister’ in the Little Radical Theatrics production of DAMN YANKEES and was a participant in the Artists in Partnership 15th annual cabaret festival in Long Beach, LI. Many thanks to Eric Michael Gillett for introducing me to the Benjamin House and the Hughes family and many thanks to the Hughes family and all of Elizabeth City for their friendship and hospitality.

Arthur L. Ross
Arthur L. Ross is an adjunct faculty member at Cypress Community College, Cyprus, California, teaching theatre & dance, as well as Hip-Hop. Arthur performs regularly at Universal Studios in Hollywood, singing as Curtis in the Blues Brothers' Revue, or Hip-Hop dancing in the show Street Sweep. Awards: Jerry herman Legacy Series, ACTF Merit Award for Choreography, Guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Co-Star Comedy Central, National Tour Elf, the Musical.

Melanie Vaughan
Melanie Vaughan has appeared in 10 Broadway shows, including Ring of Fire, Parade, Sunday in the Parkwith george, among others. She was Mrs. Claus at Radio City Music Hall for a number of years, as well as teaching voice with EMG Collective & at New York University.
