Two demographically diverse, snarky sleight-of-hand experts battle live and onstage, for the title of DC’s Best Magician in The Magic Duel. This show is full of seriously funny magic that will fool you. Badly. Audience members choose the magical challenges for the contest and then vote electronically to determine the winner of the coveted 'Golden Wand.' This 5-star rated show (Yelp, TripAdvisor) has run continuously at the beautiful and historic Mayflower Hotel since 2016. For ages 16 and above.

"This past weekend was my second visit and all I can say is WOWZAH!! I still don't know the science behind them tricks and I may never know. The second time was even better than the first." - Yelp Review

"Fantastic show! On top of being funny it really had my jaw dropping a few times. Even sitting at the front the magic was just so well done" - Google Review

When should we get to the hotel?

Please try to arrive 15 or 20 minutes prior to showtime. Unfortunately, most people these days seem to arrive just before the scheduled showtime. With everyone at the reservation desk at once, check-in can get backed up delay seating. If you arrive 15 or 20 minutes before showtime, you can check in, find your seats, then leisurely head to Edgars to buy drinks to bring to the show.

Are there public safety requirements due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

As of April 1, 2022, The DC Mayor's Office, The Mayflower Hotel, and the DC Theater community have no specific safety mandates or requirements. We are committed to the safety and health of our staff and audiences and will adopt future mandates and requirements should they arise.

Are ID or age requirements for the show?

The comedy in The Magic Duel frequently has a topical and political slant which makes it great for adults and much less interesting to most people under 18 years old. This is a show for adults that teens might enjoy too.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The best option is the Farragut North Metro station, one block south of the hotel. Metered street parking is very limited, but the best choice is the PMI Parking Garage at 1725 Desales St. NW. across Desales from the hotel. You can usually get a discount there using the SpotHero app.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email or call or text 202-262-3617. Keep in mind if it is Saturday night between 5 and 6:30 or 8 and 9:30; we are probably on stage.

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are available up to 72 hours prior to the show. We understand that emergencies happen. Please contact us before your ticketed show and we can also transfer your tickets to another performance date. We are unable to make any changes 1 hour prior to any showtime.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, on your phone is fine.

Is my ticket transferrable?

Yes. You can do this yourself through Eventbrite or contact us to help you with the process. Email or text 202-262-3617; give us your full name, email address, the date and time of your current tickets, and the date and time to which you would like them transferred. We will do our best to get you the same seats, or as close to the front and center as possible unless you request otherwise.

What can I bring into the event?

Drinks are available at Edgar, the lobby bar in the Mayflower. You may bring them into the show.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, whoever checks in can simply give the name of the person who purchased the tickets on Eventbrite.
