The Lure and Lore of Spices - Spice Talk - Brookfield Public Library

Throughout time, man’s destiny has been shaped by the search for the elusive spices coveted by nobility and royalty. The history of the spice trade reveals fascinating tales of piracy, adventures and wars battled to control the spice trade. Exotic myths arose in explanation of the expense of the spice treasures.
The Spice House was started in 1957 by Ruth and Bill Penzey, Sr. Daughter Patty and her husband Tom Erd carry on her parent's tradition as second generation spice merchants. All of the family have spent their lives as spice merchants in pursuit of the highest quality spices from locations all over the globe. They will share interesting historical facts, anecdotes and entertaining tales of daring do! Plus, all attendees will recieve a little spice goodie bag to take home and enjoy.
In audition to our spice talk, we will leave a healthy portion of time for you to have all your spice questions answered, so come prepared!
