Join historian-filmmaker Bel Ensor and sport historian Dr Rob Hess for a screening of the short film 'Lucas Girls', pioneering women in AFL.

About this event

In 1918, the employees of Ballarat textile company E. Lucas & Co. competed against a team of Melbourne textile workers, raising £330 for Ballarat’s Arch of Victory.

The short film The Lucas Girls: A match to remember tells their story alongisde the story of the very first AFLW game on the first Friday in February, 2017.

Join historian-filmmaker Bel Ensor and sport historian Dr Rob Hess for a screening of the film, and a discussion about the Lucas Girls and the history of women in Aussie Rules.
