Description

Welcome to the registration page for:

Uncovering the Lost Story of Canadaian Hero, Frederick Lee, and The Hill 70 Memorial Project

This invite-only special reception honours Frederick Lee, the first Chinese-Canadian who enlisted in the Canadian Corps during the First World War, on the evening of October 17, 20017 in Yaletown Suquet Interiors. Lee subsequently fought at both Vimy Ridge and the Battle of Hill 70 and became a role model for other Chinese Canadians who followed in his footsteps in both World Wars. The Hill 70 Memorial Project, whose Patron is The Right Honorable David Johnston, intends to name a pathway in his honour at a newly constructed monument in France.

As part of their fundraising efforts, they reached out to Jack Gin, a philanthropist in Burnaby, BC. From there, Gin's pursuit of Lee's story has inspired a community as he and the team continue to uncover important history about this family of early Chinese-Canadian pioneers in British Columbia.

We are honoured that Lee's nephew, Richard 'Dickie' Lee--the only known living relative, will be in attendance to provide his family's perspective on this early Canadian hero.

Hosted by:

  • Jack Gin, Entrepreneur, Principal Advisor, The Hill 70 Memorial Project
  • Col. Mark Hutchings, Chairman, The Hill 70 Memorial Project
  • Rob Baxter, Project Lead, The Hill 70 Memorial Project
  • Rick Bohonis, Founder, Suquet Interiors

We hope that you will be able to join us to learn more about this extraordinary Canadian and The Hill 70 Memorial Project.

This is an invitation-only event.
