Event Details

Since 2014, Hope 4 Restoration has fulfilled its promise to persons experiencing homelessness in Orange County. No homeless life lost, will ever be forgotten.

Every year on December 21st, Hope 4 Restoration sponsors an event commemorating National Homeless Persons Memorial Day, in recognition of the members of our communities that passed away the previous year without permanent places to call home. The event is called "The Longest Night" because it is held on the winter solstice. It is the shortest day of the year for most of us, but it is the Longest Night for persons experiencing homelessness and often the coldest and perhaps loneliest as well.

The Longest Night is held on the same night each year in more than 175 cities and counties across America. Hope 4 Restoration is proud to have been the first organization to establish this annual rite of recognition and remembrance in Orange County. In the ways of our humble tradition, we bring forth members from every sector of the greater community including those with and those without homes.

In doing this, we provide the opportunity for the members of the homeless communities to mourn the loss of their friends, family and loved-ones with dignity and respect. For those that are not without homes, we provide an opportunity for them to be informed and educated so that they have a better understanding of the harsh realities of homelessness and greater awareness of the need for a more collaborative approach to creating solutions that would end it.

This inspiring event will include an interfaith service, prayer, reflection and remembrance. There will be warm refreshments and holiday faire along with music and will conclude with a reading from a list of names of those that lost their lives to homelessness during a beautiful candlelight ceremony.

Please join us for this free public event that is rated for all ages and all members of the family. Parking is free. Please remember to bundle-up, as it is known to be one of the coldest nights during the winter, but it is the perfect night to spend with friends and neighbors.
