Event description

Description

Join Galway author and City College Downtown educator Seamus Scanlon for an evening of theater, film, reading, discussion, and Barry’s Tea.

The event wil feature a rehearsed reading of the award-winning play The Long Wet Grass; the screening of the short film version (shot on location in Mayo); the reading of the award-winning flash fiction piece which started the whole thing; and a directed Q&A session. The reading will be performed by Aoife Williamson and Corrin Thomas.

The Long Wet Grass (as part of The McGowan Trilogy) was produced first in New York by Nancy Manocherian’s Cell Theater Company (directed by Kira Simring and starring Paul and Anna Nugent) for Origin Theater’s 2014 1st Irish Festival of Drama. Subsequent productions followed in Ireland.

The Japanese-language version played three cities in Japan in the Summer of 2018 including a two-week run in Tokyo.

The Long Wet Grass is based in part on The Disappeared in Northern Ireland.
