Event Information:

The Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Animal Law Academy presents The Lone Star State Update on Animal Law! This day-long symposium will feature experts on legislation, civil law, and criminal law in Texas, with specific topics including dogs in hot cars laws, estate planning, state animal cruelty laws, and a special keynote panel on the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Houston Aquarium case.

Travel Grants:

Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter members are eligible to receive a grant to cover registration costs. Chapter leaders may apply for this grant here.

CLE Credit:

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits will be available to attendees pending approval from the Texas State Bar. For those not barred in the state of Texas but who would like to receive credit in another state, please check your state's CLE requirements. The Animal Legal Defense Fund is not responsible for ensuring that registrants are eligible for CLE credit.

Refund Policy:

We are unable to provide refunds after August 30, 2019.

Hotel Accomodations:

South Texas College of Law is generously sharing their corporate rate at Hotel Alessandra for all attendees. Hotel Alessandra is located two blocks away from the campus. The rates are $179/night for a standard room and $259/night for a deluxe room. Reservations can be made here or by calling the reservations line at 844-204-5851 and asking for the South Texas College of Law Houston rate.

Financial Hardship:

If you are an attorney who is currently unemployed or who works for a non-profit or government organization, we offer discounted ticket prices on a case-by-case basis. Please email Priscilla Rader (prader@aldf.org) for more information.

Terms and Conditions:

When a ticket to The Lone Star State Update on Animal Law (“CLE event”) is purchased, the purchaser acknowledges that the ticket is exclusive to the registered ticket holder (“Registrant”) and cannot be sold or transferred without permission from the organizers. The ticket provides the Registrant with a revocable license that may be refused or revoked for any reason. The organizers further reserves the right to refuse admission to, or eject, any person whose conduct management deems disorderly or who fails to comply with the CLE event terms and conditions. Breach of these terms and conditions, including disorderly conduct, will terminate your license to attend the event without refund.
