A Sacred Trust: a Biblical Approach to Sexuality and the Church.
Featuring: Timothy Brown, Andrew Comiskey, Robert Gagnon, Bob Bouwer, Ron Citlau, Rosaria Butterfield, and many more!
LINK's two-day inter-denominational event is designed to transform the church's identity into a welcoming community in a sexually broken culture, while enveloping them into the greater story of God's healing, passionate grace.
Expert teaching, authentic discourse and life altering testimony will address topics relevant to today's moral shift (sexual confusion, orientation, infidelity and addiction), and empower leadership to be unwavering in proclaiming the biblical perimeters for sexual behavior.
A Sacred Trust will provide you and your team resources and practical strategies on how to promote sexual wholeness, redemption and recovery to those who have been entrusted to your care.
WHY THIS TOPIC?
-We have done about 5 years of research and study on the issue of sexuality. We have been in conversation with theologians on all sides. It has been fruitful and helpful. We are firmly evangelical in our worldview and our study and research has confirmed this.
-We are a people on mission. We believe the church is particularly called to be in relationship with the world, this includes the sexually broken. We have pastoral staff that have decided that to follow Jesus was to deny their homosexual desires. We also have innumerable stories of people meeting Jesus in their sexual sin and brokenness. We deeply desire to call the churches in our realm of influence to create spaces for restorative community. This is the gospel and we are firmly committed to it.
-Tolerant dialogue. We believe the culture we are in, and the gospel of Jesus, calls us to tolerant dialogue. By that, we mean something particular. Christian tolerance is rooted in the reality that we have a body of knowledge concerning God and his ethics. This knowledge makes us magnanimous. We don't need to argumentatively defend our turf. Rather, we can be in dialogue in the search of the truth. This allows for kindness, compassion and the ability to truly listen.
-It is time to stand. We think that the church does itself a disservice in silence. The ethics and calling of Jesus, are really good news. We need to be wise and kind, and we need to be clear, simple and hopeful.
