Event description

Description

Includes introduction by Star Stephanie Beatriz and Post Screening Discussion with University of Missouri’s RSVP (Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention) Center

Bonnie is a young woman thriving in New York CIty; a rising career as an architect, a long-term boyfriend, late nights with great friends. But when a brutal sexual assault leaves her struggling to shake the stigma of victimhood, her everyday life is totally upended. Stephens Alumna Stephanie Beatriz (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, SHORT TERM 12) stuns with an intense yet graceful performance that explores the complex array of emotions associated with sexual violence. Director Jessica M. Thompson brilliantly unravels the subtleties of trauma, tactfully navigating personal devastation while touching upon the social aftermath of those indirectly impacted. Winner of the 2017 SXSW Audience Award for Narrative Feature, the film relates, reveals and educates, carefully spotlighting this delicate- and prevalent- social issue.
