Event description

Description

Organized by the St. Helena Historical and presented in collaboration with Rianda House, this informative afternoon talk moderated by Bonnie Thoreen features panelists Toni Allegra, Jenny Garden, Cindy Pawlcyn, Nancy Morrell, and others discussing the life and work of pre-eminent American food writer MFK (Mary Frances Kennedy) Fisher (1908-1992). Fisher, whose bronze bust greets visitors at the entrance of Napa Valley Cooking School’s Culinary Arts Building, authored more than 27 books in her lifetime, including a translation from French of The Physiology of Taste by Brillat-Savarin. Fisher believed that eating well was just one of the “arts of life” and explored this in her writing. A resident of Northern California, and specifically St. Helena, for many years throughout her life, Fisher is also credited as the founder of the Napa Valley Wine Library. Very much on the vanguard of the culinary arts for her time, Fisher’s life and legacy will be at the heart of today’s presentation. RSVP is not required, but very helpful to us.
