Description

The Lee Child Seminars:

The CUNY Graduate Center hosts Lee Child, the author of twenty-four novels and numerous short stories and one of the world's bestselling fiction writers, in a series of discussions ranging across a number of literary and social issues but revolving around his life and work. The three seminars will consider theory and practice under the headings of Text, Screen and Crime, and in view of Lee Child's attendance, the underlying premise will be that "the death of the author" has been greatly exaggerated. Participants will be free to take the conversation with Lee Child in any direction they choose. Seating for each seminar is limited. Register early.

Seminar Two > SCREEN

The context will be the relationship of screen to text by reference to Hollywood adaptations of Lee Child's novels One Shot and Never Go Back, but also his recent decision to bring his iconic hero to the small screen. We will consider questions of translation and interpretation in light of the evolution of the medium and the author's first career in the Golden Age of British television.

Lee Child with seminar moderator Professor Giancarlo Lombardi, Executive Officer, Comparative Literature Program.
