Topic: When the AI God fails: Recent Adventures in AI transparency, Explainability, Hacking, and Security

Presenter: Sebastian Pokutta is the David M. McKenney Family Associate Professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and an Associate Director of the Machine Learning @ GT Center at the Georgia Insitute of Technology. Having received both his diploma and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, Pokutta was a postdoctoral researcher and visiting lecturer at MIT, worked for IBM ILOG, and Krall Demmel Baumgarten. Prior to joining the Georgia Institute of Technology, he was a Professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Sebastian received the David M. McKenney Family Early Career Professorship in 2016, an NSF CAREER Award in 2015, the Coca-Cola Early Career Professorship in 2014, the outstanding thesis award of the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2006, as well as various Best Paper awards. Pokutta's primary research interests are in decision-making and machine learning in the context of extended formulations and continuous optimization techniques as well as analytics with a focus on real-world applications in, e.g., supply chain management, finance, cyber-physical systems, and predictive analytics. Pokutta is also interested in questions around the societal impact, fairness, transparency, and security of AI and machine learning.

Presenter: Amitay (Ty) Yaffe loved computers since young age, developing his first games in basic by the age of 12. His interest in the Asian culture made him relocate his business, Luxu technologies to Hong Kong. He is the CMO at Luxu technologies which focus on ecommerce, digital marketing and analytics. Luxu helps small businesses scale using data based marketing.

Presenter: Peter Bullock

Peter Bullock is a partner in the Hong Kong office of King & Wood Mallesons working in the Dispute Resolution team. He advises on regulatory areas such as cyber risks, data law, FinTech and the digital economy, as well as employment and competition law matters. Peter handles sourcing, licensing and IP exploitation and enforcement assignments

Peter’s background is in risk management and litigation, for clients in the IT and telecommunications sectors. He acts for major information technology and telecommunications brands and for investors in and users of TMT systems and services.

He has conducted various arbitrations, litigation, public inquiries and mediation in relation to some of the largest information systems and telecommunications projects in Hong Kong and overseas.

Peter has been recognised as a leading lawyer in Technology, Media and Telecommunications in Asia Pacific Legal 500 since 2002 and in Chambers since 1996.
