Event description

Description

The Last Angry Brown Hat a play brought to you by Cabrera Capital Markets and The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council.

Willie's brown beret has been stored away in a chest in his welding shop along with a ton of memories from the "Chicano Power" movement of the 60s-70s. When his pals come by after the funeral of their friend Frankie, Willie opens the chest and past comes tumbling out. Along with Willie, Louie, a burnt-out math teacher, Jojo, a sell-out television writer, and Rude Boy, a Vietnam veteran, courageously confront the dichotomy between the youthful anger and radicalism sparked during their time as one of the Brown Berets and their new found adult responsibilities and conformism.

ALFREDO RAMOS started his career in the industry when he was chosen as a Fellowship Writer for Walt Disney Studios’ prestigious screenwriting program. Alfredo moved on to write his award-winning play, The Last Angry Brown Hat. This Latino-based play had the honor to perform at The Smithsonian Institute of American History as part its Latino Heritage Program in 1999. Currently, Alfredo is an accomplished independent filmmaker with film credits, such as the urban drama, Road Dogz, which he wrote and directed. Recently, he produced and directed his comedy screenplay, Food Stamps, starring Danny Trejo (Heat), Noel G. (Fast and Furious), and Tiny Lister (Friday).
