Event description

Description

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Deirdre Cooper Owens and Dr. Dana-Ain Davis, Director of the Center for the Study of Women and Society at the Graduate Center, CUNY on Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology, an insightful examination of a wide range of scientific literature and less formal communications in which gynecologists created and disseminated medical fictions about their patients, and performed experimental medical procedures on primarily poor and powerless women.

This program is presented by the Lapidus Center for the Historical Analysis of Transatlantic Slavery.
