Event description
Five landscape architects working in the public sector will share their career paths and tips.

About this event

It really doesn’t matter if you are fresh out of school or a seasoned business owner, this webinar will recognize the myriad aspects of our profession- there is really no one path to fulfill your dream as a landscape architect.

Some of the questions moderator Connie Fan, ASLA will ask include:

  • Was there something that triggered your move to the public sector or did you start your career there?
  • If you've worked in both the public and private sectors, what comments do you have on your experiences in each?
  • What challenges/opportunities have you found working in the public sector?
  • What tips do you have for those considering work in the public sector?

Panelists include:

  • Christian Gabriel, PLA, ASLA, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and formerly National Design Director of Landscape Architecture at the U.S. General Services Administration
  • Maureen D. Joseph, ASLA, Resource Management Division Lead for the George Washington Memorial Parkway for the National Park Service, National Capital Region
  • Nick Nelson, registered Landscape Architect at the US Botanic Garden, a jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol
  • Marisa Scalera, ASLA, Landscape Architect for Smithsonian Gardens
  • Matthew Sellers, PLA, ASLA, LEED GA, Landscape Architect at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute
