Event Details

Impress your friends with homemade cheese.

Put on your rubber boots and join Stefanie, owner and cheesemaker of Valley Milkhouse, in her creamery for a half day cheesemaking class. Gain practical knowledge and a hands-on experience making a simple fresh cheese whose recipe can be easily translated to the home kitchen. We will be making Fromage Blanc with cow's milk, and the recipe translates beautifully with goat's milk, as in a traditional chèvre. The class will walk you through each step of the process, from warming milk to inoculation, from cutting curd to draining, salting and forming. The class ends with an evaluative cheese tasting of the Valley Milkhouse lineup.

Walk away with new skills, knowledge, a recipe and a packet of cultures to use in your own "kitchen creamery."

This class will be part of a series that will lead to intermediate recipes such as feta, bloomy rind cheeses and aged cheeses.

Beginners welcome - no prior experience necessary.

The class will be capped at 10 people. To join a waiting list, email Stefanie at

Valley Milkhouse Creamery

This event is brought to you by Valley Milkhouse Creamery. Situated in the heart of Oley's agricultural valley, Valley Milkhouse is an artisan creamery handcrafting fresh, soft-ripened and aged cheeses in traditional European styles. Ribbon-winning camembert, washed-rind tomme and stilton style blue are among the favorites embraced by the regional food community and beyond. Valley Milkhouse's dairy farm partner is Spring Creek Farm, a grass-based farm producing certified organic milk rich in Omega 3s and complex flavors that help to make the best cheese and express the tastes of our region.
