Family Run
1 mile family run, open to all. U10 years old to be accompanied by an adult. You can enter more than one child/parent here at the same time, but please message us their names so we can allocate race numbers accordingly.

Event Details

Sunday 21st July 2019 from 10.00a.m starting from

Grove Wood Primary School, Grove Road, Rayleigh, SS6 8UA

A charming 5 mile route heading to Hockley Woods, returning through
Cherry Orchard Jubilee Park, New England Wood, & Grove Wood.

Due to the nature of the course, race entries will be limited and closing date is 14th July.


Entries on the day if race not full. Raced under UKA Rules - Permit Number: 2019-

There is also a 1 mile Family Run, open to all – pre- entry & on the day.

Commemorative Medal to All Finishers.


Due to the increase in walkers, we are organising a special start for those wishing to walk the race.

This will start at 10:10am, directly after the Family Run start at 10am, and prior to the main run at 10:30am.

All profits from this race will be donated equally between Macmillan Cancer Support,
and Southend Hospital Breast Cancer Unit.

I am sure Kirste would have welcomed pink attire.

 The issuing and acceptance of a Race Number confirms entrants have read and understood the following, and agree to adhere to the following Terms/Conditions/FAQ’s.


Participating athletes agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category.




Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

You must be 15 years old or above on the day of the race.

There is no age limit for the 1 mile fun run.

 What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is limited car parking at The School, and in the Woods car-park. Once these are full we ask entrants to park SENSIBLY and WITH DUE CARE on surrounding streets. Please be aware of BUS ROUTES, and ensure your car does not block their access.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

 What's the refund policy?

In the unlikely event that The Kirste 5 Memorial event has to be cancelled, delayed or postponed due to circumstances outside of our control, such as extreme weather or instruction from Emergency Services, no refunds will be payable. 

 Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Entries and race numbers are not transferable to another participant within 1 week of the race date, or at the Race Directors discretion.

 Can I register on the day?

Yes, if we have not sold out.

Please note that all race packs will be available to collect on the morning of the race.

Is there first aid?

First Aid cover is supplied.

Is there a fun run for kids?


– 1 mile course

Are there toilets at the start?

There are toilets in the Sports hall, for ladies, and a number of porta loos/urinals at the finish area, in Grovewood Primary School carpark, for men.

Are there any prizes?

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female.
Each runner will receive Kirste 5 Race Medal.

Is the course suitable for wheelchairs?

We feel that the course is not suitable for people wanting to bring wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Is the course suitable for Walkers, and Nordic Walking?

We feel that the course is suitable for Walking, Nordic Walking.
We have a slightly earlier start for our walkers, last year this was a 10:10am start.

Can I wear headphones?

If you want to, but we feel that may jeopardise your own safety and limit your enjoyment.

Entrants do so at their own risk.

Can I run with my dog?

UKA Rules stipulate not, sorry.

Entrants acknowledge and agree that:

I should only undertake such an activity to a level which reflects my level of fitness;

I am responsible for monitoring my own physical condition prior to and during participation in the Event;

I agree that my participation in the Event is for recreational and/or charity fundraising purposes only and I will not participate in the Event for any commercial or business purpose.

The Event organiser will have no liability to the Participant for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or other loss of business opportunity.

Karl Cadman & The Running Community

Karl Cadman & The Running Community organise two local charity races;

The Kirste 5 Memorial Race is a Community Race, supported by Kirste’s friends & family with the help of local Clubs and running groups, raising funds for Southend Hospital Breast Cancer Unit, and Macmillan Nurses.


The Roach Valley Way Charity Relay raises funds for Little Havens Hospices.
