Description

Join San Jose City Councilmember Raul Peralez and Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez for a free community screening of the documentary "The Kids We Lose" on Thursday, September 26th at 5:30pm at 3Below Theaters & Lounge (288 S 2nd St), validated parking at Second Street Garage ONLY.

This 90-minute documentary explores the human side of having a child or student with learning and/or behavioral challenges while looking at the struggles faced by parents, educators, staff in facilities, mental health clinicians, and law enforcement professionals in trying to ensure that these children receive the appropriate support. The Kids We Lose is intended to heighten awareness and provide additional information around this topic.

"The Kids We Lose" won the Best Feature Documentary Award at the 2018 New Hampshire Film Festival, the 2019 Women’s Film Festival in Philadelphia, and the 2019 Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival.

Reverend Jethroe Moore, II- President, Silicon Valley NAACP

Alison King- Clincal Director, Social Thinking

Seating is limited, so make sure you RSVP to get your ticket.

The City of San Jose Human Services Commission will be hosting a series of community conversations with parents and young adults (18-26) to learn more about their expereinces accessing support at school and in the community. The feedback will be used to identify gaps and suggest improvements in youth development and intervention programs.

Community organizations are encouraged to attend or contact Commissioner Maciel to schedule a conversation for the community that they serve. macieltiffany@gmail.com

In community and with great hope!
