Young Minds: Building Resilience and Well Being for the Next Generation
The future prosperity of our communities and nation depends on our ability to foster the resilience, health and well-being of the next generation. Mental wellness at each stage of life is critical if youth are to reach key milestones on their path to success. Childhood and youth experiences, both positive and negative, have a tremendous impact on social mobility, reduced social capital, lifelong health, economic opportunity, and future violence victimization and perpetration. Effective interventions for mental health challenges at every stage of life are available. We know what to do. For our youth to achieve their full potential, for any of us to reach our full potential, we need to fully recognize that the brain is part of our body, that mental wellness is integral to physical health, and that healthy, resilient minds are essential to success at every stage of life’s journey.
