Event Details

The Justice Data Lab was launched as a pilot for one year from April 2013, with the aim of providing easier access to re-offending data for organisations that provide services to offenders. In March 2014 the pilot was extended for a further year.

Join Clinks, NPC and other partners at this event to find out more about using the Justice Data Lab and to hear views from practitioners, policy makers and academics about what the Justice Data Lab results can or cannot tell us about reducing reoffending and supporting desistance.

This events are free and are split into two parts:

1. Information session, 3.30 – 4.30pm
Nicola Abrams, Ministry of Justice; Adam Moll, SafeGround

Join staff from the Ministry of Justice Data Team to hear an overview of the Justice Data Lab, how it works, what information you need in order to use it. You will also have the opportunity to hear from Adam Moll at Safe Ground about their experience of using the Justice Data Lab.

2. Panel Debate, 5.00 – 6.15 followed by a wine reception until 7.00 pm
The Justice Data Lab: one year on, what have we learnt?
Dame Anne Owers (chair); Prof. Fergus McNeill, University of Glasgow; David Pritchard, NPC; Charlotte Weinberg, Chief Executive Safe Ground; Rebecca Endean, Ministry of Justice.

What is the value of the Justice Data Lab? Are we in danger of focussing on what can be measured rather than what should be measured? Is transparency of results helping or hindering its usage? Hear our panel of experienced and knowledgeable practitioners, academics and policy makers discuss what the Justice Data Lab results can or cannot tell us about reoffending and desistance.

Why would I attend:  The first session will be useful for organisations considering using the Justice Data Lab as part of an evaluation of their services and who want to find out more about what it involves and how it works.

The Panel Debate is aimed at all those working in criminal justice and will be of interest to practitioners, policy makers and influencers and researchers.

Who for: All VCS organisations including service delivery as well as campaigning and infrastructure organisations, statutory staff, policy makers, government officials, and researchers.
