The Jigglewatts Burlesque feat. The Copa Kings! ...A dazzling live band burlesque revue at 8:00 p.m. (doors at 7:00 p.m.) Thursday, May 26th at The Ballroom at Spider House, 2906 Fruth St. in Austin, Texas. This electrifying live band burlesque show features dazzling performances from some of Austin’s best burlesque artists.

Austin, Texas based troupe The Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue is reuniting with local big band luminaries, The Copa Kings, to bring their live band burlesque revue back to the stage for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

Jigglewatts established themselves as the premier experts in preserving the historical art form of live band burlesque, regularly performing with an array of Austin bands before the lockdowns in 2020. Now, for the first time since, they are joining with The Copa Kings to bring the magic and big energy of live jazz and swing together with the classic art of the tease.

The troupe hopes to uplift the Austin music scene and musicians after the pandemic while shining a light on the important forgotten history between live music and burlesque. Many of America’s favorite musicians worked with burlesque artists, including Duke Ellington, Louis Prima, Nat King Cole, Mel Tormé, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Henri Mancini and Jelly Roll Morton. This show will highlight the relationship between jazz and burlesque and how burlesque is woven into the fabric of American culture.

We will be requiring EITHER proof of Covid vaccination (booster not required) OR a negative covid test taken within 48 hours of the event. Vaccination cards (a photo is fine) or test results will be checked at the door. Vaccination is not required to attend with negative covid test. All guests are welcome to wear a mask, but they are not required. This policy is being implemented by the artists, not the venue. This ongoing burlesque residency at The Ballroom at Spider House features live music, comedy, drag, variety, and world-class burlesque performances in a swanky cabaret setting. The Jigglewatts Burlesque is a perfect match for this jewel-box of a space where floor to ceiling red velvet curtains, an artfully appointed stage, and an aura of old Vaudeville add to the immersive experience.
