The Jewish Mindfulness Practice of Shabbat
The Jewish mystical tradition teaches that we can cultivate an inner experience of Shabbat even during the week. During these difficult times, when we are constantly flooded by a barrage of inputs and demands that vie for our attention and emotional resources, the ability to rest deeply in this moment no matter how hectic and overwhelming it may be, is a much needed antidote to the suffering of living in the modern world. During this 4-session series we will study Jewish texts and practice mindfulness-based techniques that support our ability to carve our an inner sanctuary in the midst of our crazy lives. No prior experience with text study or mindfulness meditation required. All are welcome.
Taught by Rabbis Jordan Bendat-Appell and Sam Feinsmith of the Center for Jewish Mindfulness at Orot.
4 Wednesdays in January from 11:45 AM-1 PM.
