KPFF invites you to our next event in our Design Matters series where we explore equity in design.Please RSVP so we can estimate attendance, but it is an open invitation and food is provided from KPFF.

Tuesday September 26, 2018: The Jade District Walking Tour

5:30 PM: Gather at Thai Fresh 8409 SE Division Street for hosted food and a presentation by Anita Yap of the MultiCultural Collaborative and APANO.

6:15 PM: Take a walking tour and learn about the neighborhood's design challenges, plans, infrastructure, anti-displacement strategies, and more.

About the Jade District

Portland’s Jade District is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in central Portland. With a blend of cultures, businesses and community hubs that anchor multiculturalism as its engine for success, the Jade District is an example of how planning, design, and community come together to make a City that works. Centered at SE 82nd Avenue and Division Streets, the Jade District is a public/private partnership to facilitate economic and cultural growth overseen by APANO, The Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon.


About Anita Yap | Founder, The Multicultural Collaborative; Member, Board of Directors, APANO

Anita Yap is a seasoned professional with deep experience in community development, public policy and community engagement. Anita has been a leader in innovation and sustainability, leading communities in alternative systems planning and innovative approaches to community planning. Anita is keenly involved professionally and personally in community service and brings a focus on equity and a culturally competent approach to working with people and communities.

Anita holds a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning, Planning Public Policy and Management from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Oregon State University. She is also a Fellow with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Anita received the Governor’s Livability Award, the Excellence in Downtown Award and the Distinguished Leadership for a Professional Planner from the American Planning Association.
