Event Details

The IslandWood Multicultural Environmental Education Conference provides an opportunity to create a space in which diverse community members and environmental educators can exchange knowledge, perspectives, and tangible tools for advancing inclusivity in the field, by hearing from those in communities that are often underserved by and underrepresented in environmental education.

Join us to examine the current state of environmental education through a multicultural lens. This conference will provide attendees the opportunity to engage with other professionals and dedicated community members. Attendees will practice the skills needed to implement innovative solutions that improve the practice of environmental education for their communities.

Lunch will be provided free of charge and there will be a networking opportunity after the conference.

We are pleased to host several speakers with a wide array of experiences in environmental education.

They are:

Shehreen Johnson with OUT for Sustainability

Hannah Gallagher with Seattle Children's Playgarden

Mei Yook Woo from The Foodways Project and former Manager of Danny Woo Gardens

Alice Tsoodle with Friends of North Creek Forest

James Rasmussen with the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition
